You may be wondering how to run Lightroom 2 as a 64-bit application on Windows XP x64.

Lightroom will not install as a 64-bit application on Windows XP by default because it’s not an officially supported platform for 64-bit version. Lightroom is officially supported only on Vista x64.

But when you run the Lightroom installer and choose to “Open the Specified Folder” in the Files are Ready dialog (Be sure to uncheck the option to “Launch the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.0 Installer”) you’ll see an Adobe Photoshop Lightroom directory that contains “setup32″ and “setup64″ executables.

Once again, running Lightroom 2 as a 64-bit application on Windows XP x64 is not a supported configuration.

Why all the excitement about a 64-bit version of Lightroom? First of all, you should use 64-bit version of operation system if you have 4GB or more of RAM. (Or at least planning to add enough RAM in nearest future). 64-bit capable operating systems and applications can take advantage of more memory than 32-bit systems.

If you have a 64-bit environment with 4GB or more of RAM you’re most likely to see great improvement in the responsiveness of the Develop module where Lightroom is loading large amounts of information into memory.

Here’s something that you’ll do quite often – deleting photos. At least I do it very often.

Assuming that not every photo you take is a keeper (well, may be it is just me who takes bad photos sometimes) you’ll inevitably need to delete photos.

There’s two ways in Lightroom:

Deleting from your catalog but leaving them on your computer.

Removing them from your computer all together.

First of all, if you are browsing your photos using keyword tags, you have to “Go to Folder in Library”:

To do it just right-click you photo and then click “Go to Folder in Library“.

Then, when you are in Folder you can right-click you photo again and then choose “Delete photo…”

There you will have two options:

Press Remove button to remove photos from your Lightroom Library, or Delete from Disk to move them to Recycle Bin.

The other option is to use keyboard shortcuts:

To delete them from only your catalog but leave them on your computer just press Alt-Backspace (Mac: Option-Delete).

If you want to delete them from your computer too just press the Delete key and then press the Delete from Disk button. That moves them to Recycle Bin.

Lightroom has many keyboard shortcuts. In this article I will cover module navigation keyboard shortcuts.

The name of each module is listed in the top-right corner of Lightroom window, but those are not just links, which can be clicked to go to corresponding module, they also have numbers attached to them.

So you can also press <kbd>Ctrl+Alt+</kbd>(module number) in Windows, or <kbd>Cmd+Opt+</kbd>(module number) on Macs to jump to corresponding module.

You could also use <kbd>G</kbd>, <kbd>E</kbd>, and <kbd>C</kbd> to go to Library Grid, Loupe, and Compare mode correspondingly, and <kbd>D</kbd> to switch to Develop module.

Summing everything up we have following table:

<kbd>E</kbd>
