Photoshop Lightroom Essential Training

I have been using Lightroom for about 3 months and thought I knew the product fairly well until I started watching Chris Orwig’s Training DVD from Lynda.com.

Instructor and professional photographer Chris Orwig explains how browsing, organizing, and adjusting images in Photoshop Lightroom dynamically improves photo management, processing, and presentation. The training teaches photographers how to establish a more effective and creative workflow so they can focus on what it’s all about — the photo. Tutorials are accompanied by exercise files (full resolution raw files).

In the 5.5 hours of play time, I learned a lot and it’s definitely helped me to work my way through Lightroom a lot quicker and more efficiently. Even the basic F5, F6, F7 and F8 show/hide panel commands, that Chris repeats over and over, has the desired effect of planting those shortcuts in memory so you won’t forget them.

Lynda Weinman, CEO of lynda.com:

“I am really excited about teaching Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, as it’s a revolutionary tool that empowers photographers (including myself) to become more effective and creative. Lightroom not only helps me organize and access images, it expands my creative potential with its powerful RAW processing capabilities that are non-destructive to the original image. Since I started using LR, my workflow has become streamlined, which has helped me rediscover my passion for the essentials of photography,”

If you’ve been using Photoshop for years (as I have), you may be tempted to think you don’t need training, but believe me it’s worth the time. Lightroom is a absolutely different product from Photoshop and after the training you’ll really appreciate the functionality that Lightroom has to offer.
